This custom comes from Scandinavia and has a long tradition there. Behind the elf door lives a little elf who comes out of the magic forest during the pre-Christmas period to help families with their Christmas preparations.

The elf is nocturnal and sleeps during the day. Therefore, he should not be disturbed under any circumstances when he is behind his elf door. At night, however, he is even more active.

The extensive "Nisse" set contains the basic elements such as a door, ladder, mailbox and broom, as well as a doormat, a pair of boots and a sleigh. There is also a table with delicious rolls to keep the elf from getting hungry. Two small fir trees also create a Christmassy atmosphere.
